Diamond Plate 2014

The path I took was in Vale do Pati, which consists of a seven day trek, crossing the Chapada park. Starts in the Municipality of Guinea and goes to Andarai.

We traveled around 65 km, There is no possibility of doing this route by car, so we just walk.

Trekking in the Valley is very rustic, there are no inns, mandatory shelters are the homes of residents who have adapted them to receive tourists. There cannot be new constructions, Therefore, only existing ones can be renovated or expanded; or a new house, if any family member (children of residents) form another family. That's very curious.

The first shelter after Guinea is also the main one in the Valley, known as Abrigo da Igrejinha and who manages it is Mr.. João. We stayed there for two nights, we use it as a starting point for sections of a day, how does it turn around.

On the first day, we did the Guinea x Igrejinha section, in about 5 hours, we were very loaded and the initial stretch was difficult for me, I wasn't very used to it. It's very cold up there, even though it is in the State of Bahia, we got six degrees on the first day, the solution was to sleep early to escape the cold.

On the second day, after a typical Chapada breakfast, We went weightless towards Cachoeirão, nearly 3 km away. The view we have of the waterfall is incredible, Too bad the weather was dry, the waterfall was very empty, we return to Igrejinha.

Third day was the biggest challenge, We headed towards the attack on Castelo Hill, highest point of the entire route. Exhausting climb through the forest, lots of humidity, difficult and dangerous trail, with the need to use their hands at different points to assist and provide safety. we returned to Igrejinha for our last night.

We left early on the fourth day, towards another shelter they call City Hall, in fact, it has this name because it once served as an outpost of that body, but today it serves as a shelter and home for Mr.. Jailson. We spent the night at the city hall.

Fifth day we left early towards Cachoeira do Calisto, very difficult and long journey, but the view was quite worth it, We managed to return to City Hall early, we had lunch and left again, now towards the tree well, another beautiful waterfall that ends in a large well ideal for diving.

Sixth day we left again very early, now heading towards Dona Linda's house, most rustic shelter of all in the Valley, without electricity, There isn't even a battery for LEDs in this case..

Dona Linda is very attached to traditions and that's why all the guides really enjoy talking and spending time with her..

Seventh and final day of hiking, We left early in the morning, ultra-reinforced breakfast to be able to face the final climb, this time to leave the valley. How the body was used to, We managed to do it in a very reasonable amount of time considering the weight we were carrying., We managed to reach Andarai around 10:30 in the morning.

As a bonus for the time we managed to arrive, We increased our challenge this time by car we headed towards the blue well. It is a cave below floor level about 17 metros, which connects via water table to a nearby river, due to the limestone formation in the region, the water in this well is extremely clear, and to everyone's joy, What makes this place so famous is the beam of sunlight that can reach the water at certain times of the year., Luckily we were at the right time.

After a few hours, We set off to see the sunset on Pai Inacio Hill, I believe it is the most famous spot in Chapada, its plastic beauty scares those who have never been there before.

End of visit, We returned to our starting point which was the City of Lençois and boarded a bus towards Salvador.

It’s difficult to describe experiences in words alone..
