At the top of the mountain in Whistler – Canada

| Cris Berbert

Whistler on the west side of Canada is known to have hosted the Winter Olympics in 2010.

Very popular in winter due to its ski slopes, It is also a great option to visit at other times of the year..

We were there at the end of summer and the city was super busy. The snowless ski slopes were hosting a mountain bike competition. A little radical for me! But the village was full of competitors, tents and related events.

Even without a specific event, the snowless mountains are an attraction for hiking with several trails of varying difficulties and sizes.

If you are not into sports, it's worth climbing the mountains via the Whistler Village Gondola on Whistler Mountain, arriving at Roundhouse Lodge. Then to the highest point of the mountain via the Peak Express open cable car (“butterflies in the stomach” for those who fear heights, but unmissable). Up high, installed the sculpture called Inukshuk (created by ancient Inuit people) which was also the symbol of the Winter Olympics. In addition to incredible views of the mountains and the city.

Returning to the first stop, you can cross to Blackcomb Mountain by gondola (Peak 2 peak Gondola) normal or with glass bottom, you who defines the level of adventure!

The mountain is descended by open cable car (Solar Coaster Express e Wizard Express) and arrival takes place at Blackcomb Base & Family Adventure Zone, an area with all the infrastructure to entertain children (if this is your case).

Back to the Village, we found stores, restaurants, coffee shops and Olympic tourist attractions, like the Whistler Olympic Plaza.

We did a round trip from Vancouver. We bought the ticket online and boarded the bus next to the Hyatt Regency Vancouver Hotel and Burrard metro station., in the central region.

For a more relaxed ride, you can stay 2 a 3 dias, and this way you can get to know the lakes in the region by bike, another great program.

Take the camera because the scenery is beautiful, and you won't want to miss a single click!
