Orvieto: about 1h15min from Rome, by train, this small town was a pleasant surprise for a half day trip.
Arriving at Orvieto station you just need to cross the street and take the Funiculare, kind of cable car that takes you to the city, then a minibus that in 5 min drops you in front of the Duomo, which, in my humble opinion, is one of the most beautiful and delicate facades ever seen!
The interior of the church is small and quite simple..
In the vicinity of the Duomo, narrow streets, with small craft shops, Enotecas, and restaurants that are also small and very cozy.
Obviously very very good food, after all… Italy is Italy 
and food here is something sacred!
