You arrive at the destination, but your suitcase is not!

When you arrive at your travel destination, but your suitcase is not… what to do?

We are always subject to unexpected events when traveling. Bons e ruins. Some, we managed to protect ourselves, others don't.

I've been through some situations, such as being robbed arriving on the train in Paris, or fall flat on your face and tear your nose when you arrive in Rome, but having a lost suitcase was the first time.

Landing in Vancouver, after a connection in Chicago, I waited for my suitcase on the conveyor belt… and nothing! The feeling of the conveyor belt emptying and your suitcase not appearing is quite frustrating.! The thought is: and now?

The first step is to go to the airline and try to track the bag.. In my case, United said the suitcase had arrived in Vancouver, but I was lost somewhere in the airport. I opened the incident and would have to wait until the evening to determine whether the suitcase had been lost or found.. If found, they would deliver it to the hotel..

Bom, if they didn't find, I would have to buy clothes, shoes, lingerie, personal hygiene items and a new suitcase. The tip is to go to popular stores to buy basic items., if you haven't set aside money to renew your wardrobe in better stores! Which obviously wasn't my case.… rs

In Canada the nomination is Winners, in the USA Marshalls, Target or even K-Mart. You can also find basic items in some pharmacies..

In the end, I didn't need it because they found my suitcase and delivered it to the hotel (Maybe if you were in an Airbnb this would be a problem). But here are some tips to minimize problems.

– photograph your suitcase before boarding, This can help the airline identify your luggage;

– carry a basic kit in your hand luggage: a change of clothes and personal hygiene items;

– do not ship valuable or necessary items (p. ex. continuous use medicines). Carry with you;

– ask for information about popular stores in your destination.

The most important thing is don't despair, This can't ruin a trip that's just beginning.

And you? Have you ever been through this or something similar?? What did they do?

    Great tips. It's important to take photos, because if your suitcase arrives damaged (as happened to me) There is a way to prove it. But don't forget to report it to the airline when disembarking., They gave me a voucher and I picked up a new suitcase at a store they recommended..
